Air Safety Support International - Living Their Values

The Client Air Safety Support International

Air Safety Support International (ASSI) is a not-for-profit, wholly-owned, subsidiary company of the UK Civil Aviation Authority, and under the direction of UK Department for Transport. The company's primary objective is to help provide a more cohesive system of civil aviation safety regulation in the United Kingdom Overseas Territories Aviation Authorities (OTAAs).

With its offices in West Sussex, ASSI is responsible for ensuring that the UK meets its international obligations in respect of safety regulation and this covers all aspects of civil aviation, including the legal framework, licensing of personnel and the certification of aircraft, airlines, airports and air traffic control.

A very important and challenging job which has a huge impact on tourism and revenue stream in these territories.

The Challenge

ASSI supports the OTAAs by working with them to develop and maintain the competence of their staff. To do so, ASSI lives by 4 strong values: Sustainability, Competence, Inclusivity and Determination.

These values are underpinned by the importance of promoting effective two-way communication with the OTAAs, by developing and enhancing their local capabilities through the design and delivery of training programmes.

To achieve this ASSI needed to equip its specialist staff with delivery skills that made the training engaging and effective.

The Solution

When looking for a training consultant to help them with this complex task, Impact Factory stood out because of its practical approach to the delivery of training.

Impact Factory has created, in partnership with ASSI, several programmes, from Train the Trainer to Presentation with Confidence and one to one coaching sessions to support 14 ASSI trainers, who frequently travel overseas to deliver tailored training and working with the OTAAs.

Impact Factory has provided ASSI trainers with the expertise and confidence to make their sessions very practical, experiential and fun, allowing the overseas delegates attending the sessions not just to fully participate in the workshops and create personal tools that can be used straight away, but also to generate trust and collaboration between teams, which is vital for ASSI.

The Results

Since the training, revamped sessions have been delivered for 6 different training events using the different skills and techniques taught by Impact Factory. The feedback has been excellent on these.

“As Training Manager, I love working with Impact Factory, not just because their expertise working across countries helping organisations communicate and work better together, but also because they are bringing a very important element in training – the human factor, the personal approach to learning-, which at the end of the day is what makes a training session to stick”.
Clare Bury, Training Manager of ASSI.

“Working with other trainers is always a pleasure, very inspirational and enjoyable. The work that ASSI does is of vital importance for so many Overseas Territories. To see the long-term impact of our training and its repercussion across the world is extremely rewarding”.
Katherine Grice, Senior Training Consultant of Impact Factory.
