DOVISTA shifts its technical culture for a more human approach
The high specification windows and doors manufacturer is accelerating change with soft skills training

“Since the beginning, we have been very impressed with the professionalism and training capabilities of Impact Factory. They immediately created a level of trust and engagement that is very difficult to find.

Their experiential method, delivered always by 2 trainers and the personal learning approach that they are bringing, guarantees that the training works, sticks and lasts. Impact Factory’s flexibility, ability to listen, understand and adapt with us is unique. We are very pleased to have found a training partner with such a level of human engagement and interaction”, said Liz Hancock, HR Director of DOVISTA-Velfac.

The client

The DOVISTA Group is a group of leading companies and brands operating in the North European market. The Group consists of a number of independent brands with 4,000 employees who manufacture and market high specification windows and doors in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the UK, Germany, Ireland, Poland and Lithuania.

All the companies in the DOVISTA Group have a separate identity and market strategy. They all have a strong presence in their local markets, enjoy a close relationship with their customers and share the common vision and mission to provide excellence by collaborating to deliver the best results.

DOVISTA and Impact Factory have worked together since 2015.

The challenge

DOVISTA has the strategic mission to provide ‘excellent service as a differentiator’ through developing their people and promote a culture of continuous improvement in everything they do. To achieve this strategic goal, the Group has recently implemented SAP software to optimise business operations and customer relations.

Due to the nature of their products and process orientated culture across markets and diversified operational teams, DOVISTA has an extended technical and specialised way of communicating, not just across technical departments, but also in the Leadership and Senior Service Management teams. This detailed and specialised way of communication has been the norm with internal stakeholders and customers and suppliers.

The combination of a heavily technical communication and process orientated culture with the operational changes that the new software implementation brings, it has made more relevant than ever to share information in an engaging and convincing way.

DOVISTA constantly invests in technical training which is key to disseminating specialised information. This type of training does have limitations in its ability to convince, persuade and engage all levels to accelerate and establish positive change.

The Solution

DOVISTA UK and its HR Director, Liz Hancock decided to create a Train the Trainer bespoke programme with Impact Factory back in 2015 to change the way its quality team was delivering their internal training programmes. Project Managers from Denmark and Poland came to the UK to participate with their peers in a training which was a huge success.

The cross-cultural team felt fully motivated, confident and able to take away their personal techniques and tools to make their presentations more engaging and easier to assimilate. The information was easy to disseminate across the Group with less PowerPoint and more authenticity and enthusiasm.

After this programme, DOVISTA and Impact Factory created a specific training programme for the Leadership Team, including the Managing Director of DOVISTA UK, who were already good motivators and needed to reinforce their storytelling techniques.

In order to win heart and minds, not just internally but also with customers, DOVISTA decided to create tailored Presentation and Communication programmes, specific for sales managers, team leaders and project coordinators, which is now part of the organisation curriculum to give its teams the confidence to get the buy-in with all types of customers and stakeholders.

Most recently, DOVISTA Group has implemented SAP across DOVISTA UK. Changing systems and processes are always testing times within any organisation. Impact Factory is helping cement the rollout of the new system, making the change smoother by assisting DOVISTA’s teams with three more tailored training programmes. The objective is to make DOVISTA’s client facing teams feel more confident when speaking with customers to guarantee that excellent customer service is delivered also in times of change.

The Results

After working together for a few years, DOVISTA and Impact Factory have established a relationship of trust and understanding that has produced a highly motivated organisation, where the commitment of the person is higher than ever and where the dry technical culture has shifted into an inspiring one, bringing emotional response into the equation.

The fully experiential training sessions work at such an emotional level, providing also team building exercises that are creating more efficient and productive teams where communication is more effective and collaboration stronger.

The organisation is also experiencing a higher level of retention as its teams felt invested in and motivated.

“It’s a privilege to work with DOVISTA. They do care about their people and their commitment to build an organisation that really lives to its values is unparallel. Working with Liz and her teams is always rewarding and a pleasure”, said Katherine Grice, Senior Training Consultant of Impact Factory.
