Sheila Neville

Training Consultant at Impact Factory

Like many Londoners, Sheila brings the experience of another place with her. She was raised in Manchester. Visitors to Manchester say that the inhabitants are friendly and nosey in equal measure. Make of that what you will.

Sheila was welcomed to Impact Factory for the unique cluster of skills and experiences that she brings.

Sheila runs among other things:

After studying design at university, Sheila worked 8 ‘til 4 for a jeweller’s and from 6 ‘til 11 to set up her own design and jewellery business, supplying clients in London’s premier jewellery quarter in Hatton Garden.

Over the years she developed ways of combining her creativity with her interests in relationships and communication. Her experience of the private and public sectors was gained through decades of work in several roles: from exhibition work to press monitoring for a media company; as an HR and Training Manager to teaching a communications course at City University, as well as tutoring trainee counsellors.

Sheila qualified as a counsellor and psychotherapist 18 years ago. It could be said that her persistent ‘Manchester nosiness’ about what makes people tick has kept her curious and has enabled her to hone her people skills and to learn how people behave in workplace groups.

Initially working as a counsellor with individuals and with couples, over the years Sheila has developed her skills to include different types of teams – particularly in the City, as she has a counselling practice in Shoreditch.

As a senior BACP accredited therapist, she has expertise in workplace mediation and team support, including critical incident trauma recovery. Intense though this work is, it has helped Sheila develop effective skills to work innovatively with people. What satisfies her sense of creativity today is knowing how to help managers and staff build on their existing resources and find ways to foster self-reliance, resilience and better working relationships.

Sheila has added to her professional interest in work teams by obtaining Belbin Team Role accreditation.

"Over the years, I heard of the work of Impact Factory through my City clients. I am both pleased and proud to be involved with a company delivering high-quality training to people who intend to achieve above and beyond their existing capabilities."

In her spare time, Sheila loves hiking and running. She steadfastly curbs her urge to compete, relishing the lack of goals, direction, or time restraints that simply ‘going for a run’ can bring. If the weather is wild then her indoor interests include time with friends and family, film, literature, art and museums.
