Procrastination Personal Impact Procrastinate and stay stuck Well, we all suffer from procrastination at some point (often many points in our lives). Sometimes we can get completely paralysed when we think of just how much we have to do. But however busy and well-organised we may seem to the outside world, most of us have things lurking around that stubbornly don't seem to get done. Filing a tax return Clearing out the attic Defrosting the freezer Going to the dentist We can even remember the relief we experienced the last time we completed something that took forever to get done. "That wasn't so bad after all," is usually the sentiment. And every year we vow that this year we're really going to do a totally thorough Spring Clean. And how often does it just not get done? The magic wand to getting things done will sound like most of Impact Factory's advice: small steps and treat yourself gently. Giving yourself a hard time really isn't going to help. It can feel really serious and burdensome - all that stuff that isn't getting done, and fun kind of gets leeched away. Get some fun back and you might find that your energy shifts just enough to get the ball rolling. Here are some suggestions: Play your favourite music as loud as you dare Dance around Give yourself a reward just for thinking about doing something Enlist a friend and do something silly Go for a walk and take deep breaths Buy some flowers Now see if you can borrow some of that new-found energy and put it towards whatever it is you've been avoiding. You may not get all the spring-cleaning done, but you certainly can have more fun giving it a go.
